Created to homologate the humble 924 model for Group 4 competition requirements (though ultimately raced under the GTP category at Le Mans in 1980), the Carrera GT is powered by a modified version of the engine from the 924 Turbo, enhanced by a top-mounted intercooler, a digital ignition system and a higher compression ratio.
Most notably, the 924 Carrera GT has a far more aggressive and purposeful look compared to its more sedate forebear, featuring substantially flared wheel arches, a sizeable rear spoiler and a large bonnet scoop, as well as lower ride height thanks to its sportier suspension setup and Bilstein dampers.
