Synonymous with lazy days and the pop of champagne corks, taking a trip on an elegant slipper launch is the perfect way to enjoy the Thames. The quintessential lines of a slipper launch with her distinctive sloping stern, timbers finished to a super high-gloss and fittings reminiscent of art deco, radiate elegance.
Restoring an original classic
The original Andrews slipper launches were built from the 1930s until the 1970s. Andrews Boathouses Limited was set up in 2021 to buy these wonderful boats and restore them to their former glory. We are passionate about craftsmanship, quality and beauty and take great pride in restoring each launch to a ‘Concours Standard’, conserving a piece of the heritage of boating on the Thames. Every detail is meticulously restored and the boats are updated with contemporary additions for comfort and convenience including electronic ignition, hydraulic steering, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers, fold-away Champagne glass holders, and a removable electric cool box.
Creating a new classic
Every new slipper launch that we build is handcrafted with the highest quality materials and fittings following the original lines and design. Attention to detail and quality take precedence. Flawless painting, varnishing, gilding, plating and trim all accentuate the true beauty of these launches. Each launch is bespoke, fitted out to the future owner’s individual specifications from the material it’s made from to the propulsion, interior upholstery and seating configuration, as well as the finishing touches for comfort, convenience and style.
